Rosedale Crossing

Rosedale Crossing was born on the 4th May 2006 at Quad Studios, Friday Street, Leicester.

Jon, Bob and Dunc had been playing together for the previous 6 years in blues-rock outfit SoulMonkey. Upon the split of that band, due to Jim relocating and Craig joining a touring stage show, the three remaining Monkeys decided not to abandon the project altogether but to find a new bass player with whom to move in a new direction.

Early writing sessions suggested an acoustic-based approach without the blues-exclusivity upon which SoulMonkey was focused. Whilst there remained an overall desire to keep a jam-based feel to the project, more structured songs were needed to complement the new sound and the band spent nearly nine months in weekly rehearsals prior to performing live for the first time. After a slightly false start with Lawrence Oates on the four string, a lull ensued to be finally, and hopefully permanently, refilled by ex-member Craig as of late 2007.

The resulting output is a mixture of country, bluegrass, blues, americana and good old English folk. Pigeon-hole it if you can...
